Concordia University/p>
Fund name: Sustainability Action Fund
Student fee levy
$0,25/credit/semester

Fund management
All community members can apply to the Sustainability Action Fund. However projects that receive funding must be of direct benefit to the Concordia campus community. All project leaders are required to present their project to Concordia community and SAF board of directors at public consultation for approval.
The Board of Directors is composed of:
- One director elected by the Concordia Student Union from its executive
- One director elected by the Concordia Student Union from its Council of Representatives
- One director elected by the Arts and Science Federation of Students Association
- One director elected by the Commerce and Administration Students' Association
- One director elected by the Concordia Engineering and Computer Science Association S.A.
- One director who must be a supporting member elected by the members on a recommendation from Sustainable Concordia
- One director who must be a supporting member from the faculty of Fine Arts elected by the members on a recommendation from the Fine Arts Student Alliance.
The SAF hired a coordinator for 20 hours/week.

Each project proposal is evaluated by the Students’ Society of McGill University (SSMU) Finances Office.
Selecting projects criteria
The Green Fund was created in an effort to empower campus members to engage in sustainable initiatives on campus and in their personal lives as well as build a culture of sustainability on campus. The fund offers monetary support to initiatives that reduce the environmental impact of a group, SSMU or the McGill community. All members of SSMU are eligible for funding.
All projects or initiatives being funded by the Green fee should achieve at least one of the following goals that SSMU has committed to:
- Assess and further the implementation of the SSMU environmental or sustainability policy
- Strive towards minimization of the Society’s negative environmental impact
- Raise awareness within the Society about environmental issues
- Potentiel d’impact sur la communauté
- Projects may also be related to SSMU’s commitments to Montreal’s Plan Durable.

A specific budget unit is part of the Sustainability Office that manages the Fund.
The direction of the Sustainability Office will make its recommendations regarding project proposals.
According to its recommendations, presidents of Student Associations meet together at a fixed date and then publicly announce their decision.

- Relevancy of the project according to sustainability or social commitment
- Number of students involved
- Impact on student community
- Durability of results
- Visibility brought to HEC Montréal by the project
- Project capacity to use funds for finding other funding. The Leadership Fund only finances project to a maximum of 50%.

- Consider economical, ecological limits and social needs aspects
- Is adapted to the UQTR campus
- Respect the AGE UQTR Sustainability Politic
- Has a 25% financial commitment of the campus
- The project will have positive impact on the environment:
- Reduce Greenhouse gases (GHG) emission
- Resources conservation and protection
- Limitation of ecological footprint
- Improve the UQTR environmental assessment

This funding aim to stimulate and finance activities and projects that want to modify individual and collective behavior and practices in a sustainable way.
The project or activity criteria has to:
- Be implemented for and by campus community
- Encourage people to act accordingly to the Sustainability Politic and Action Plan of the University
- Have positive impact on the environment and community.
Evaluation criteria:
- Probability of success
- Potential of impact of community
- Compatibility with the University’s Sustainability Politic
- Have other incomes helping the self-financing of the project (example: sponsorship, financing activities, other funding, etc.)
- Partnerships (between Faculties and/or Services, students and employees, etc.).

An automatic but voluntary contribution (CANO) of 25$ per semester has been created during Fall 08 in order to improve the student life on campus through the new Student Life Improvement Fund (Fonds d’amélioration de la vie étudiante).
The FAÉCUM has then adopted its priority investments during its Spring 2009 congress, and a specific budget has been voted for the sustainability projects.

The Student Life Improvement Fund manages the Sustainability Fund. Therefore, one student and one University director will make their recommendations about the projects submitted to the evaluation committee of the Student Life Improvement Fund, which is made of:

- The Association générale des étudiants de la Faculté d’éducation permanente’s representative
- 4 members of the Université de Montréal management.
