- November 1rst, 2009 – 9 other student projects financed by the Generations Pact
Students from 6 Quebec universities have submitted 11 projects to the Pact funding, past October. The evaluation committee met on October 25 to select the projects to be financed.
For this second round of funding, the evaluation committee was made of:
- Nicolas Girard, Programs Director, Fonds d’action québécois pour le développement durable (FAQDD)
- Jeanne Camirand, Agriculture Project Coordinator, Nature Québec
- Édith Tessier-Roy, ex-coordonnator of Action Re-buts
- Francis Pronovost, Energy and Buildings Counsellor, Centre de l’environnement
- Pascale Geoffroy, Generations Pact Coordinator, Sierra Youth Coalition
- Continued the assessment of McGill Food Services (Food System Project) to ensure the sustainability of changes made on campus and throughout the course of certain academic programs.
- The Vélo vélo collective, grouping all bike cooperatives across Quebec and coordinated by the student bike coop of UQÀM, BQAM, for jointed campaigning and activities.
- The evaluation of the MAGE’s student services to further implement operational and purchasing changes toward eco-responsibility.
- A deep analysis of the ecological footprint of HEC’s students, in order to suggest a specific action plan to improve the ecological impacts of the HEC individual and collective community.
- A support to Organic Campus, a McGill student group providing organic food on campus, to extend its education activities about food issues toward McGill community.
- The hiring of two master students to conduct a feasibility study on the system recovery of compostable materials to be implemented on the UQTR campus.
- Loutérou, a rental bike service on UQAR campus, to promote healthy lifestyles and reducing car use.
- The Collectif Lèches-Babines of UQAR, initiating self-managed kitchens by and for students from the recovery of feed waste and purchasing local and organic foods.
- The drafting, adoption and training in a responsible purchasing policy for UQAR through student employment, to promote local and low environmental impact purchases for all departments of the university.
- September 1st 2009 - The second call-out for project proposal is now launched!
A $120,000 budget is available to finance any university student project reducing greenhouse gases on campus or in its regions.
The key dates to remember:
September 30th: deadline for depositing the letter of intent
From October 5th to 23rd: project reviewing with the Generations Pact coordinator if needed
October 25th: deadline for project application

- Mai 4th 2009 - 8 student projects will be financed as of May 2009!
Students from 6 campuses across Quebec have submitted 12 projects to the Generations Pact funding past March. The evaluation committee made of Maryève Charland-Lallier, Quebec Sustainable Campuses Coordinator, Nicolas Girard, Programs Director of the Fonds d’action québécois pour le développement durable (FAQDD), Alexis Lautard, Coordinator of Waste management, Air, and Climate Changes Sector at the Réseau-environnement, and Pascale Geoffroy, Generations Pact Coordinator, met at Quebec on March 26th to evaluate projects.
8 of them were accepted, being:
- The McGill Food System Project, reaching to integrate local-buy products in the McGill Food Services.
- The social bike coop Béqàm, at UQÀM, being launched on September 2009.
- The implementation of a carpooling system at UQAC, and within other regional organizations, to encourage carpooling between students and workers.
- Activities to increase awareness of the campus community about sustainable transportations, encouraging the using of systems already implemented.
- A major promotional campaign at HEC about sustainable transportations, coordinated by BrigaDDes (sustainability squad).
- The landscape planning of UQÀM held by students, also providing composting, urban agriculture and local purchase workshops, by the Collectif de recherche en aménagement paysager et en agriculture urbaine durable (Council of landscape planning and sustainable urban agriculture research) (CRAPAUD) of the UQÀM;
- The industrial composter implementation at the Université de Sherbrooke by Génie-Vert, and at McGill by Gorilla Composting, jointly with activities and workshops to increase the composting habit on campus, at residences, and at home.
- April 14th, 2009 - 8 student projects will be financed as of May 2009!
Students from 6 campuses across Quebec have submitted 12 projects to the Generations Pact funding past March. The evaluation committee met at Quebec on March 26th to evaluate these projects, from which 8 were accepted. The projects financed by the Generations Pact will be presented at a cocktail held at the Robin des bois, on Monday, May 4th, at 3:30 pm. Come and join us!
