Mission

The mission of the Generations Pact is to develop and carry out new social synergies in order to create inventive, concrete, beneficial, and concerted solutions based on equity and sustainability for the survival of future generations.

Objectives

The Generations Pact wishes to combine socio-economical and political aspects of community sustainability with the protection of the environment. Specifically, the Generations Pact aims to reach three main objectives:

  • Mobilize students to address the need for urgent action
  • Create student sustainability funds on university campuses dedicated to the development of student projects on campuses and in the community
  • Develop a dynamic collaboration between university campuses, businesses and community organizations to promote sustainability in the regions

The fourth objective strives to obtain joint financing from the Quebec government (ideally equivalent) and continual funding for student sustainability initiatives.

Coordination

The coordinating body has the mandate to assist the student activities related to the Student Sustainability Funds on each Quebec campuses, in order to ensure the timeliness and success of the Generations Pact.

Through its actions, the Generations Pact coordinating body wants to encourage concerting and experience sharing between students as well as between them and the Pact partners.

Concretely, the Generations Pact coordinating body:

  • Stimulates the creation of student sustainability funds on campuses in Quebec.
  • Provides full support to students or student groups throughout the process.
  • Manages the Pact financing program, Action-climat, available for student projects fighting against climate changes.
  • Supports and guides fund management committees for the granting of funding from FAQDD to eligible student projects.
  • Facilitates the coordination between student needs and the services and resources offered by the network of Pact collaborators.
  • Develops regional partnerships to implement some student projects in the community.
